What's been happening this week in the 1% Club? The first ever 1% Club community newsletter, and a taste of what's to come for future editions.
Welcome to the first edition of the 1% Club Community Newsletter! As the first of its kind, this newsletter will change a lot depending on your feedback. As we establish our footing and gain momentum, I hope it will become something truly exceptional. I am humbled to be leading this Community Initiative, and am very eager to see it grow. Thank you for joining me at this early stage.
Community Feedback
Before we get started, I have some Community Initiative ideas to share with you. But you need to tell me what YOU want. Help me save precious time by knowing which initiatives people will actually use. So please ONLY vote ‘Yes’ if you truly see yourself using and finding value in these initiatives. Note: You won’t be able to react to these unless you have subscribed (unfortunately I can’t turn this setting off). These initiatives are:
Web3 Work-with-me Pomodoro Productivity Sessions. The Pomodoro technique has been scientifically proven to be effective at boosting productivity, and group studying aka. Social Facilitation/Body Doubling, has been proven to do the same. By livestreaming my own Pomodoro work sessions on Discord, you can join me and together take advantage of both techniques to boost your own productivity. This approach has been shown to be successful, with work-with-me Youtube livestreams consistently drawing thousands of viewers. With Web3 full of ‘builders’, it seems like the perfect market fit. I plan to start with shorter sessions and gradually increase their length if people like them.
Twitter Influencer List. NFTGod talks about how one effective way to grow your initial following is by engaging with influential figures in the NFT space. This list would include only the top influencers in the space who actively support and promote their reply guys. By following and giving high quality comments, you could be the one fortunate enough to get a retweet and gain hundreds of followers in a day. Supplement this with your own List of Influencers who are in your niche and do the same for maximum growth early on.
The Daily #GM Curation - a daily curation of the most engaging, positive, and interesting GM messages from across the space. This one is more for my personal Twitter rather than exclusively for the Discord, but I’d appreciate your feedback anyway. Every morning, I would spend 10 minutes curating the best GM messages and compiling them into a single post, making it easier for GM enthusiasts to get their daily dose of only the best GM’s. As a reward, those featured in the post will also receive that day's unique GMCuration NFT token. This initiative aims to start people's mornings with positive motivation, build on the community and culture of the space, and perhaps also GM engagement farm whilst actually providing value at the same time (for once).
In the future this personal section from me will be much much shorter/non-existent. I just want to make sure I’m providing as much value to this community as possible with the time I have available. Now onto the main section of the Newsletter.
Weekly Roundup of all 1% Club News
As of today (23/01/2023) we have 386 1% Club Discord Members! It’s been rapid growth and I’m looking forward to that continuing as we welcome many more members. The best thing about this community is how we’ve managed to keep the same supportive culture throughout all this growth. We are truly building something special here!
We also have congratulations to give for our two newly promoted Community Leaders Byzianna and Ray Alva! Byzianna has been extensively helping NFTGod behind-the-scenes, and Ray has led the charge of the video-creators subcommunity, trailblazing ahead and turning it into one of the most active sub-communities in the 1% Club.
Sunday also marked the closing of the ‘NFT GOD X IKORMA’ collection. This was an Open Edition set (meaning an infinite number could have been minted) and was used as a way to support NFTGod recover from the dreaded hack event. The supply finally closed at 558 making it an extremely limited collection. NFTGod is airdropping one ‘1% Better: Rewards’ NFT (more on this later) to a random holder of this collection once per month, and has hinted at additional utility for collectors down the line.
Community Spotlight
This section is used to deep-dive on Community Member’s one at a time, to give them the chance to talk about anything and everything they’re doing in the Web3 Space. For this week please give a warm welcome to our first ever guest, James aka. JMCACrypto showcasing his project HouseHaeds, a new PFP art project launching on Ethereum.
Tell us a bit about what you’re working on:
I’m currently working on bringing a new original project to web3 called HouseHaeds. It’s a concept we’ve been working on for the past year with the goal of pushing PFP art and Web3 in a fun, unique direction while building an extremely tight knit community.
From the beginning, we told our team we wanted to have fun and give them creative freedom to bring their best to the NFT space, and they’ve blown my mind every step of the way. Over the past year, we’ve grown from a team of 2 to around 25 across the globe (North America, EMEA, and Africa).
It’s been extremely fun because a lot of our creators have worked with major brands such as Coca-Cola, BMW, Intel, Burger King, Ducati, Gatorade, and Lamborghini and they are now being told they have complete creative control to come up with whatever they want.
At this point, I can’t release much more information yet, however, we decided to take a unique approach to NFT art, specifically PFPs, along with a very different approach to web3 experiences compared to current projects. We want to engage our community with clues that tell a story, almost like a treasure hunt. We’ve taken great care to make sure that everything in the collection is there with a purpose and that we bring the very best in quality to the space.
How did HouseHaeds come about?
My first experience with NFTs was the Sandbox Alpha Season 1. I had my aha moment when I walked into the Alpha Hub and saw the Bored Apes hanging on the wall in the museum. I immediately knew right then and there that this space has amazing potential for bringing out the best in creativity as well as a brand new way to experience art.
The HouseHaeds concept started after my co-founder Macca and I were rugged on a Solana project in January 2022. It was my first real experience buying into a project and it left a sour taste in my mouth. We both recognized that if the NFT space were to grow, it needed to be a safe, welcoming environment and so we set out to do just that. We started by bringing a lot of our web2 friends that had no experience to NFTs and converting them into believers in this space.
It meant scrapping a lot of early ideas and content we came up with because it wasn’t good enough. Ultimately, we found an artist, David Sossella, whose unique art style meant we had endless possibilities in both art and experience creation.
Are there any particular artists or collections that you’re a fan of?
The thing about Web3 is that there is so much talent across so many mediums. I am a big fan of a lot of projects where the Founders are continuing to build no matter the market conditions. Sappy Seals with Pixl Labs; The Plague with DaPons, I truly believe are setting the stage for tremendous growth in the space.
Regarding individual artists, obviously I’ve fallen in love with David Sossella’s artwork. Despite the hundreds of hours I’ve spent pouring over the collection, I keep coming back, which is what I want for everyone. Then there’s Grant Yun and Tyler Hobbs, which I was introduced to thanks to DepecheNode’s podcast.

For the time being, we are a closed discord, but are allowing interested folks to come in and get a look behind the scenes. Anyone interested can DM me, or fill out an interested application here.

Community Activities/ Contributions
For the first ever community member highlighted for their contributions to the 1% Club, I would like to give special attention to TheMustach3. He spent a lot of time creating the Notion ‘New Member Portal’ template which is coming next week (more info on this in the final section of this newsletter).
Ray Alva and amirmushich also hosted a Club Call on Video Creation, setting the standard of how best to leverage this community and get the most value possible. Interacting with each other to learn and grow is exactly what this community is all about. Amir also has his own studio: mushich.com and has been considerably helpful to both myself and NFTGod behind the scenes.

Coming up this week
This coming week will be the inaugural release of NFTGod’s ‘1% Better: Rewards’ NFT. His first ever NFT Collection. This collection will be one drop per week rewarded to a community member for the best content creation, as judged by NFTGod. The art for this NFT will also be curated from community member submissions, also chosen by NFTGod himself. This will form a major part of the ecosystem for the 1% Club going forward, with planned utility to be given to the set throughout the year. It is designed to motivate and encourage participation by the community to create high-quality pieces of content, whilst perhaps also introducing a little bit of friendly competition. With only an estimated 75 NFTs in the set by the end of 2023, this will be an extremely rare piece.
Another release we can expect to come this week is a New Member Portal, created by TheMustach3 and finished by NFTGod. This will be a centralized Notion page containing all information that new members need to navigate the Discord correctly, and will help scale the community efficiently as the 1% Club continues to grow. It will also include a directory of resources for current members to use such as the 1% Branding Graphics to use when starting community initiatives, a list of community member Newsletter links, and a number of other things.
Talking of Community Initiatives, we have another four initiatives started by community members this week:
Ray Alva is starting his ‘Office Hours’ initiative where you can book a short call with him in VC to talk anything and everything to do with video creation. Having generated 2 billion+ views on Youtube, you’d be silly not to have a chat with him. You can book here: calendly.com/ark-ray
Lonewolf is also starting his weekly community Meditation Sessions initiative in the Discord VC, with the first one being tonight at 8pm EST. He will lead you through a short 10 minutes of guided meditation, and The Phunky One will finish the session off perfectly with a ring from his singing bowl to bring you back to reality.
As a seasoned public speaking coach with his own Youtube channel: Hugo Presents, Hugo has been kind enough to host a public speaking coaching session in the Discord VC once per month, with the first one being on 31st January.
And finally Miguel is hosting a club call on the topic of Web3 UX on 30th January. As an experienced product designer with his own studio: index96.com this is one to be sure not to miss.
Anyone can start Community Initiatives. The clue is in the name, everyone can take the initiative and start any community activity they choose. As long as it aligns with the community values, you have full permission to act with autonomy and build on the community however you like. In fact, it is encouraged! Anyone who shows exemplary effort in their contributions to the community can and will be considered for promotion to Community Leader! (Contribute now before spots get taken up).
And finally, the next Club Call Weekly Meeting will be on Friday as always. The time changes each week to accommodate multiple time zones, so keep an eye out for when that information is released. Make sure to be there!
