Weekly Roundup of all 1% Club News:
This week we finally hit the big 500 Discord Members milestone! (Currently at 504 20/02/2023). Congratulations to everyone for being here early! Here’s to the next 1000 members and beyond! NOTE: We actually have 650+ people currently signed up to the paid subscription, which means there are 150 people who are paying $5 but aren’t in the Discord. If you know one of these people, make sure to tell them about the Discord and get them in here!
Congratulations to TheMustach3 for winning last weeks ‘1% Better: Rewards’ content challenge! Click the image below to read the winning Thread:
Here is what NFTGod had to say about it: ‘Mustache wrote this awesome thread on using NFTs as access passes. It was informative, business focused, used great graphics, was well written, and branded nicely. I really enjoyed it because he took a concept that has been widely accepted by the Web 3 community and proved why it isn't viable. I love a good, well reasoned, contrarian take’.
We got one Newsletter from NFTGod this week on 16th February. In this edition, NFTGod begins by talking about the value of purposeful rest, and later dives deep into the importance of ignoring social expectations and living true to yourself. Read it for yourself here:
NFTGod is taking over the weekly Club Call Roundup section from now on, so that will now be moving over into his main Newsletter. Here is a screenshot of the roundup that he made on Thursday in case you missed it:
Community Spotlight ‘Deep Dive’:
This section is used to deep-dive on one Community Member at a time, to give them the chance to talk about anything and everything they are doing in the Web3 Space.
For this week please give a warm welcome to our fifth guest, Ray Alva!
1. Who is Ray Alva?
I’m a regular person who just happened to become obsessed with Web3 back in 2015-2016. I believe in hard work and persistence. I came to our space with 0 experience and I absorbed as much info as I could from people that were way smarter than me and built the tools that would become the basis for our entire Ecosystem.
On the creative side, I love YouTube and content creation. Besides working with a lot of different creators in the space, my best friend and I started a channel in 2015 and were able to grow it to one of the most viewed channels in the world. I’m proud of it not because of the heights we were able to reach but because I was able to do it with a great friend.
Relationships to me are important. Trust is important. I believe that is the lens with which I view the world. This is why every job I’ve ever had has had a 1 on 1 component where I get to work with people directly. I definitely carried it over into Web3 and it’s been one of the best experiences of my life.
2. What did you do before Web3?
Prior to working full time in Web3, I was working with YouTubers in 2015 as I had been for the past few years at the time. I mostly focused on creative direction and overseeing brand deals. That time really helped open my eyes to the importance of creating good content and making a connection with your audience.
I also was working at a law firm at the time so my schedule was pretty packed. Even so, I always kept my ear to the ground when it came to Bitcoin and other cryptos of the time. It wouldn’t be until a year later that I started getting involved in more communities. I ran a validator for a project called ARK. Later on, the same project offered me my first full time job in Web3 as a strategic partnerships manager. A few years later, with the trust of my team and mentors I was appointed CEO of ARK Ecosystem SCIC.
3. What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment my entire company is all-in on creating Dashbrd (pronounced “Dashboard”). This product’s purpose is to improve the user journey/experience in Web3. Everything from a portfolio to view your assets, to “collections” where you can organize and view your NFTs, all the way to “Communities” where you can stay tapped into what’s going on with your favorite projects without having to dedicate massive amounts of time to monitoring Twitter and Discord.
If we are going to onboard the next wave of users into Web3 we need to simplify. Too many people are juggling complicated systems to manage their crypto and NFTs. A lot of the systems are not intuitive enough to give regular users the confidence necessary to jump into Web3. When you compound this with the education gap in our space, the outlook only worsens.
With Dashbrd, our team hopes to bring a really simple UI and a knowledge base of educational content that will make Web3 simple for new users while alleviating the pain points of the users who are already here. We are truly striving towards making it the universal dashboard for Web3. We are going to have a lot more info coming out on Dashbrd in the near future, complete with special events and rewards for early adopters. Best way to keep up is by following Dashbrd on Twitter.
4. What is one thing you wish more people would know?
I would want people to know that participating and immersing yourself into something will take you a lot further than waiting for the perfect time to begin a new endeavor.
When I started learning about Web3 I jumped headfirst into a few crypto communities. I didn’t know much about consensus mechanisms, hot vs cold wallets, or TVL, but I didn’t let that stop me. Through participating and contributing to projects early on with my unique skill set, I was able to forge important relationships with the people around me. This not only led to opportunities career-wise but it also allowed me to expand my knowledge.
I think what holds a lot of people back is the fear of failure. It’s ok to fail and it’s ok to be a beginner at something. Get comfortable with it and take your first step.
5. What is one thing you want to leave people with at the end of this newsletter?
I want people to know that the most important skill you can cultivate is kindness. Giving your knowledge and time without expectation of anything in return. Connecting and helping people is one of the greatest joys in life. It’s why the 1% Better Club has been so successful in the early days. Bringing all types of people from different walks of life together under a positive mindset. It’s something that is noticeably absent in Web3 at the moment, with only a few communities working towards that ideal.
This is also a good time to mention that there is nothing I love more than helping others with their content creation journey. Feel free to take advantage and use me as a resource and ping me on Discord or Twitter. Let’s keep being the change we want to see in Web3!

Ray is another Community Leader and a great member of the 1% Club who has been helping me a lot behind-the-scenes (more on this soon.. maybe). As well as being insanely experienced and knowledgable in a wide range of topics, he’s always helping out and frequently makes the community laugh with his humour. Super glad to have Ray in the 1% Club.
Community Initiatives, Achievements & Contributions:
Initiatives
Amirmusich is starting a brand new Community Initiative! Here’s what he has to announce:
Let's make Web3 attractive again!
We want the Web3 and NFT world to be accepted worldwide.
But 90% of Twitter accounts look rather repulsive.
Banners created in the Canva underground,
Tweets with low-level graphics,
unprofessionally designed roadmaps of projects.
Low-quality NFTs.
Inarticulate presentations.
Does this attract investors and newcomers?
I don't think so.
I want to help you take your visual presentation on Twitter (and online in general) to the next level.
You, as creators of high-quality content, deserve the best visuals for your brand.
And that's why I want to give you knowledge in this area.
I've been working in the design field since 2016, I own my own digital studio and we serve big brands (like Warner Music, Atlantic Records, Kimberly Clark etc.) and music stars (Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, twenty one pilots and many more)
And I'm excited to share my knowledge and experience with the 1% community.
It's free of course.

Accountability Section:
Last weeks accountability call was another raging success. As always, thank you to everyone who showed up and shared their goals with the group 🙏
"Wen?" I hear you typing. Tuesday at 13pm EST in the 1% Club Discord VC. Every. Single. Week.
Congratulations to everyone who achieved their goals last week! 👏
To everyone who didn't achieve everything they wanted (myself included) last week, you DID NOT fail. I was absolutely astounded by the honesty you showed, reflecting on the previous week & setting new goals continuing to relentlessly push forward.
"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal." - Henry Ford
There was also a bunch of new faces in the crowd, so I would like to highlight them below:
@TheBinaryBrush - Plans to start her newsletter, focused on art (digital watercolour), expanding on being a digital artist & graphic designer in Web2.
@Giraffitii_NFT - As an established multimedia artist, she is taking small steps to improve her YouTube channel & put her podcast into the Metaverse.
@_shucks - Writing 3 Twitter threads on how to maximise productivity through his experience of being an entrepreneur as well as increase engagement in the 1% club community.
@NFT_GOD - Had plans to write a thread on reducing anxiety. Work on premium content for the 1% club and improve the visibility of this on the website. Schedule his next 10 days of tweets. Conduct surveys and reach out to individuals so he can understand how to serve the community better.
*With an attitude like this, it is hardly surprising that the 1% club continues to be the best incubator out there for new, growing or established projects in Web3, self-development support & anyone interested in technology & investing. 🤝
@AmirMushich - Has connected his passion for music to creating a project crossing artists from Web2 to Web3. Monthly goal of telling the story behind the project, setting up the Instagram account and having a detailed Google doc with the plan for moving forward.
@BucharaYT - As an established animator, he has created a course for building your brand in Web3 (@Web3BrandBuild). Is continually working on his personal blog and plans on tweeting everyday this week.
@kenos89 - Is continuing his education in 3D animation. Plans to watch 2 hours of tutorials this week as well as get 2 Twitter threads out.
@alex_hutchi - Wants to empower those who are less confident by providing valuable content and resources from his journey into community management. Also writing his newsletter on the same topic.
@chancysofancy - Passionate about her vision of supporting women in Web3. Finishing the copy for his website & publishing one article about women's leadership in the space.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who reached out to me with their goals for the week despite not being able to make the call. I have noted them all down and can't wait to hear about all the triumphs on this week's call.

Networking/Job Board:
There are no job postings this week. Although, if you have any open positions, please don’t hesitate to let us know in the Community Job Board section.
Also, we’ve created the “Talents” part in which we are going to include the skills that you have. This part will include as well your availability for co-hosting Twitter Spaces. If you are willing to offer any of your skills and you are free to work, please let us know in the same section so we can include it in the upcoming newsletters.
If you see a person that has the skills you’re looking for, make sure to send him/her a DM.

Coming up this week in the 1% Club:
The topic of this weeks ‘1% Better: Rewards’ challenge is ANYTHING! This includes Threads, Tweets, Newsletters, Memes etc. Anything your heart desires! Submissions end on Wednesday and the winner is announced on Thursday! Below is the amazing art that’s been chosen for the NFT Reward. This weeks art piece was created by the incredible Ned|Giraffitii:
Coming up this week we have the continuation of the incredibly successful 1% Club Calls. More will definitely be organised over the next few days so be sure to keep an eye out in the Discord:
I will continue running the daily Pomodoro Work-with-me live-streams. The regular squad is always growing so I hope to see you there too!
Amirmusich is starting a brand new Community Initiative with calls on design, branding and visual creation. The first is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11am EST!
J0nga’s next Accountability Meeting is also tomorrow at 1pm EST. This has continued to be a success and is definitely not one to miss!
As usual the whole 1% squad joins for the weekly Club Call on Friday! Keep an eye out for the time.
Outro:
I’m currently rethinking some of the content for these Newsletters:
I might condense ‘Community Initiatives, Achievements and Contributions’ into simply ‘Community Highlights’. This will make it less structured and more free to feature basically anything the community wants featured.
I might also change or remove the Job/Networking Board because at this point in time it isn’t being used enough to continue adding. (Although it will definitely make a comeback at some point in the future, so don’t worry).
We tested some ideas to see what would work, and now we can learn from them to improve the Newsletter experience even more.
In the meantime please let me know if you have any ideas, or if there’s anything you would specifically like to see in these Newsletters!
As always, thank you for reading. I hope everyone has a happy and productive week. And keep being active in the Discord!
“Whatever you are, be a good one.” ―Abraham Lincoln
Thank you.
Thank you so much for this Alexander! Excellent as always!
Great Newsletter and Great Community!
